Museums. Art. Health. Wellbeing.

Hi there, I’m Louise Thompson. I work with museums, galleries, heritage and community settings to deliver creative health and wellbeing work.

I have nearly 20 years experience of working in culture here the UK and was Health and Wellbeing Manager at Manchester Art Gallery for 13 years. I have a special interest in:

  • creative health practice
  • mindfulness-based engagement with cultural collections
  • trauma-informed practice within museum settings
  • psycho-education

Sharing my skills and knowledge around how culture and creativity can help improve people’s health and wellbeing is my purpose. I believe that creativity, culture and the arts are for everyone. They help us lead longer, healthier and happier lives.

what other people say…

Claire Bown, Founder, Thinking Museums

It was an absolute pleasure to work with Louise recently when she taught a masterclass for my membership community of international educators. With her calm, gentle teaching style, Louise has a real talent for combining theory with practice. She is wonderful to work with, has exceptional expertise in her field and is generous in sharing her knowledge.

Grรกinne Flynn, Education Coordinator, MIF

The project went really well. All the schools involved have sent such lovely feedback.
I have specific feedback from one school involved that they really loved your exercises and would use them again!

Julian Bovis, Director, The Weavers Factory art gallery

Louise was a fantastic workshop leader, she was thoughtful, intelligent and intuitive. Her mindfulness course was well thought out and beautifully presented, and we had wonderful feedback.
